This acrylic ring template is designed specifically for artists who create silverware jewelry. It enables them to cut their ring shanks to the right length. Please note that the template’s calculations are customized for silverware and will not produce accurate results when used with sheet stock metals. This is due to variations in the thickness of silverware compared to the uniform thickness of sheet metals. Therefore, manual adjustments may be necessary, particularly for wide handles, using the overlap method to allow for fitting the ring shank.
To use the template for a circular (end-to-end) ring, place the silverware handle under the correct window and mark the thickest point of the handle with a fine Sharpie marker. Determine the silverware’s thickness by sliding the handle into the bottom slots and adding the measurement in millimeters to the overall length. For an overlapping ring, mark the ring four sizes bigger than the desired size and add the thickness of the ring shank to the total length. For a spiral or wrap ring, measure the required size in the appropriate slot and add extra length based on the thickness of the ring shank.
The template comes with a protective film that can be removed upon receipt. Be careful when handling the acrylic to avoid chipping, cracking, or breaking. There is a hole at the top of the template for easy hanging on a bench.
