Fire Shield

Fire Shield is a product used to help prevent fire scale, fire stain, and plating loss on silver-plated items during annealing.

Instructions for use.  Wash and dry silver-plated items in hot, soapy water.  Dry, then buff lightly with 000 steel wool, then wipe it down with alcohol.  These steps help the product adhere properly to the surface of the metal.  Paint on a thin coating of Fire Shield and let it dry.  Use a black Sharpie marker to mark a bare area.  Using a torch, heat the metal until the Sharpie mark begins to fade.  Let the piece cool on top of a solid metal surface to help pull the heat out of the metal.  Rinse and dry.  If the product sticks, wash it off with Dawn dish soap and a scrubby pad.    Keep the product covered when not in use.  If the product thickens, add a drop of water and mix well.  Repeat until you get the desired consistency.
